Resumen

Abstract

Sieges were the most important events in the wars in the 16th, 17th and centuries. A siege was a difficult operation, more technical than a battle. The war of the Quadruple Alliance (1717-1720) reflected this kind of war, with the preeminence of the siege. The defense of Sicily was focused in some determined cities with a certain characteristic in common. This defense was perfectly studied by a duke of Savoy. Although sieges were the most important operation made by the army, we can't forget the importance of the navy in the progress of the war in the island.
